19 Amenemhat III was a pharaoh of the twelfth dynasty, now thought to have ruled from approximately 1860-1814 B.C.
20 Hipparchus employed trigonometry to make numerous astronomical discoveries; almost all of his own works were lost, but later astronomers evidently knew about them, preserved his discoveries and built upon them, so the reference is a trifle enigmatic. It might refer to the speculation that he constructed a heliocentric model of the solar system long before Copernicus.

Thutmose III had at least three wives, including Merytre-Hatsheput, the mother of his successor, Amenhotep II, but she is not thought to have been Thutmose’s sister. It is thought that one of his wives might have been his half-sister Neferure, but that is disputed.
