      Blackwood nodded as Thomas continued, “But on the way, the boys got stuck in the wet marsh mud and couldn’t get free. They screamed and screamed, but they were too far away for anyone to hear them. That mud was like quicksand, and it slowly swallowed them.”

      Skeeter grabbed Thomas by the shoulders, shaking him. “That’s enough, Thomas! Stop it! STOP IT!” But Thomas plodded ahead without emotion, his voice dying to a whisper.

      “The camp was forced to close. It couldn’t stay in business after the scandal of the two dead boys. But the groundskeeper remained in his little cabin, where every night, he is still visited by the ghosts of the two boys, who want to hear the thirteen true ghost stories, of which . . . their story is the last.”

      Jeff Turley

      Jeff Turley is a co-owner of Illustrátus as well as an Academy Award–winning production designer. He has a love for the outdoors and often wishes he was living in the woods with his wife, soaking in the fresh mountain air and enjoying all of God’s creation.

Most recently, he production designed the original short film, Sanjay’s Super Team. Ghost is his first picture book.

      Jesse Reffsin is a film and television writer based out of Los Angeles. When not at the beach or camping, he can be found in a dark closet working on his next horror or sci-fi project.
