“Right, yes, thank you.” I nod rapidly. “I will be there in a moment.”
I race over to the bar and tell the guy there, with an actual element of smugness, that Shane is going to pay. He doesn’t look impressed, I’m pretty sure that he was looking forward to getting me locked up, but it’s over now. I will just need to make sure that I don’t come back here any time soon. Maybe not even ever.
Once done I race down the stairs and I find him at the doorway. A shyness overcomes me as I watch him hail a cab. I feel pretty wild, like this is the craziest thing that I’ve ever done. It probably is. I’m not this girl. I have only ever gone from friends to more before, and that’s only twice. This is something else.
“Ah, you’re back.” Shane looks genuinely happy to see me. “I have a cab here, are you ready to go?”
I feel like he’s giving me a chance to refuse, a chance to back away despite the fact that he’s already paid for my drinks, and a small part of me knows that’s the wise thing to do. I should stop this now, halt it, and go back to my normal life. But the thing is I kinda don’t want to. I’m down this wild path now and I want to continue.
“I’m ready to go.” A wave of boldness overcomes me. “Let’s do this.”
He opens the car door for me and I slide inside, my heart pounding against my rib cage. In the silence of the car my ragged breaths are obvious, but in his smooth way, Shane ignores that and acts like everything is all fine. That just confirms that he’s a playboy, able to make it feel natural, but that doesn’t put me off. Maybe, after my horrible day, this is exactly what I need. To throw caution to the wind. To act the opposite of myself. This is the sort of thing that people my age are doing all the time anyway, so it isn’t exactly wild.
Shane rests his hand by my knee as we drive along. The electricity burns off of him, sending shivers racing through me. It’s like my body can already feel that he will be incredible in bed and I can’t wait to experience him. Now that I have made this decision, I’m all in and surprisingly excited about it. I grow so intensely attracted to him that I barely even notice how long the drive is until we reach his place. It isn’t until the place becomes so obviously posh that I even sit up straighter. These homes are incredible. He is way out of my league. I thought he was just a normal person working in finance, but he must be doing really well for himself.
Maybe I should try and back out of this right now, just because of my insecurities.
Shane hands some bills to the driver and he takes my hand as we slip out of the car. It’s only the feel of his skin that keeps me with him. How the hell can I walk away even with how much insecure I feel when he is like this?
“Are you okay?” he asks me in a very sweet tone. The playboy has a sweet side.
“I’m good, thank you,” I pant back. I am, but I’m scared too.
Shane pauses outside his front door and cups my face in his hands. I stare up at him, spotting something genuine behind the deep lust in his eyes. There is something about him that others don’t usually get to see. I don’t quite know what it is, I’m not sure that I have the experience to work it out, but it feels nice.
My pulse pounds, there’s a strange throbbing between my thighs, I need to really feel him.
His head tilts ever so slightly. It’s a subtle movement, but it feels huge to me. I suck in a breath already knowing what’s coming. His lips are coming towards mine, I’m about to feel the power of him kissing me, which is thrilling. The anticipation is about to kill me as he moves closer and closer…
Then his lips connect with mine and fireworks explode. He kisses me softly, gently, sweetly, yet the passion flows thickly. I can sense it flowing like water between us, drowning us in the most incredible sensation in the world. His hands on my cheeks feel even better, I adore it, so much so that I roll my hips towards him. I really step out of my character and I let him know using my body that I really fucking want him.
He pulls back, ever so slightly, and smiles at me as he reaches behind and unlocks the door behind him with his eyes fixed on mine the entire time. The way that he’s staring at me amps everything up. It’s intense, shocking, full of fire. Flames lick all over my skin, I’m totally hot for him. The sexual chemistry flows through me like a river, like a wave, threatening to become a tsunami at any given moment.
“Come on.” He tugs me through the door. “Come inside.”
Once in his hallway there isn’t any messing around. He kisses me once more, but this time his tongue snakes between my lips and everything changes gear. It’s hard and fast, sexy as hell, just like the version of him that I imagined. He pushes me up against the wall and hitches my slip dress that I wore to the acting job to make for easy changing, around my waist. The cool air dances around the tops of my legs which hardly ever get exposed, reminding me that I’m acting like a wild person. Not that I’m complaining. I actually like this version of me.
“You’re so fucking sexy,” Shane rasps. “And I don’t think you have any idea.”
I loll my head to one side as his mouth moves off mine and over my throat. Reality and rationality vanishes as he makes me feel like an animal. I want him so badly that I could die. I fucking need him everywhere. Yep, it’s never felt like this before and I absolutely love it. So much so that an involuntary growl rises from my throat.
It’s strange, in Shane’s arms I kinda feel beautiful. Much better than the version of myself that I see in the mirror usually.
“Give me your leg,” Shane commands, stunning me to the core. “I want to position you.”
Okay, this is where it might be about to get crazy. I don’t really know what I’m letting myself in for here. Essentially, I’m not really here for myself, I’m here to pay Shane back for coving my bar bill. He has complete control of me… a thought that should put me off but actually thrills me. It makes me bloom like a flower, parts of me that haven’t ever been unleashed before are set free, and it feels incredible.
As I do what he commands I can’t help but wonder what is going on with me? What am I doing? Who am I?
And why haven’t I been this version of myself before?
