Born Jacalynne Mendoza in London, England, she left London University with a degree in English and Drama, got very involved with charity, particularly the Young Variety Club, where she helped raise a great deal of money for underprivileged and handicapped children and met her future husband, Peter Flax. In 1995, she moved to the U.S. with her family and two boxer dogs.
Together with Peter, she began her own supper theatre company where she played ‘Shirley Valentine’ the mum from Liverpool, for six years in theatres and clubs in Southern California, including two years in a casino. The show won three theatrical awards for Best Actress, Best Play and Best Director. After six years, she also added ‘Last of the Red Hot Lovers’ to her repertoire and played all of the three women characters.
She began her own one woman stand-up comedy show ‘8 Crazy Women Living in my Head', in 2004. And the show became the nexus of the 'vlogs' (video logs) and eventually, this book.
