She pressed a kiss to his lips and stroked her fingers across his chest. “I don’t want to rule you. I don’t want to be your superior. I just want to stand by your side… and perhaps boss you around in the bedroom.”
“That, I can live with. You will make me a fine queen.”
Her eyes widened. She had never thought of herself as his queen, but she supposed if he ruled Hell as its king, she would become known as his lady and the occupants of the realm might view her as their queen. She wasn’t sure she would ever get used to such a thing, and she didn’t even want to think about it right now. She just wanted to be with Lucifer.
His hands slid down to the small of her back and he sighed against her lips.
Nina drew back and caught the flicker of concern surfacing in his eyes, and knew he was thinking about the future again, but in a different way to how she had been doing it.
She was thinking about growing used to living in Hell with him, and he was thinking about losing her.
“You’ll never let anything happen to me, and I know that.” She caressed his face and smiled down at him. “I’m not afraid, Lucifer. I know that we have a future together, and that it’s going to be everything we ever wanted. I believe that in my heart. We’ll get through this and we’ll be a family.”
“Family,” he whispered, earnest desire in his voice that touched her. He wanted that, just as she did.
“Family… me, you and Lili.”
Lucifer frowned. “Lili?”
She nodded and twined her fingers in his black hair. “Short for Lilith. I figured the daughter of the Devil needed a name suited to her parentage.”
He smiled at last, rolled her onto her back and broke away from her. She was about to protest when he dipped his head and pressed his lips to her bare stomach.
“Lili,” he whispered against it and stroked his fingers over it, making her wriggle as he tickled her. “You will be as beautiful as your mother, and as powerful as your father, and more loved than any other child in this world… my precious Lili.”
He lifted his head and looked up at her.
“My precious Nina.” He shifted up so he was eye-level with her again and rested his hand on her stomach as he looked down at her, his golden gaze filled with tenderness. “I will never let anything happen to you. I love you too much to lose you.”
Tears lined her lashes, her heart filled to bursting in her chest. She had never felt so loved and needed, so cherished. “I know. I love you too, my precious Lucifer.”
She lifted her head and kissed him as he wrapped his arms around her, clutching her to him in a way that said that now he had her he was never going to let her go. She held on to him, showing him that she wasn’t going anywhere. She was staying right here with him.
Because he was her home.
And she knew that she was his.
Fate had made their paths cross and they walked a new one now, towards a future they both wanted with all of their hearts.
Together.
