‘I’ve got something to show you,’ Andy said, frantically tapping on his palm screen.
He opened his Mirror Hack app and retrieved the file of the video chat. As Judd leant in to look, Andy could see tears welling up in his eyes.
‘Tha. . .tha. . .that’s my mum,’ he stuttered. ‘Where did you get this?’
‘I hacked into Shadow X’s video call when I was trailing him. He called her. She didn’t look happy. And now I know why. She’s probably being held captive by –’
‘She’s alive! That’s all that matters!’ Judd said. ‘Where is she? Where was the call made to?’
Andy hesitated before showing Judd the text message from Reggie. But he knew what he would want if he was Judd, and he couldn’t keep the information from his friend.
Andy just hoped that finding Judd’s mum would be enough, that Judd wouldn’t do anything crazy. Anything that might get them both killed.
When he saw where the call was made from, Judd sprinted towards the station’s ticket counter.
‘What are you doing?’ Andy called, running after him.
‘What do you think I’m doing?’ Judd yelled back. ‘I’m going to save my mum!’

When I was a kid I was invincible – or so I imagined. My brother and I would combine all the powers of our favourite comic and TV superheroes and have the most epic battles in our backyard. We would zap at each other with our awesome laser fingers, run faster than a cheetah riding a Ducati (now that’s fast!), and jump over buildings (more like the swing set) in a single bound.
With Andy Roid, I’ve been able to let my imagination play like never before. It’s been so much fun to create this series and I hope you enjoy it as much as I loved writing it!
