“No, Mark, I’m not going to look for him. The man who put the adoption together said he was given, I suppose that’s the right word, to a very nice couple. I told you that, soon after we met. I’m certain they loved and cared for him the way I would have, had things been different.”
“I wonder if he’s tried to find you,” Mark replied pensively.
“Perhaps, but you know he can’t. Lilliana Nichole Chadwick ceased to exist soon after I put him up for adoption.” She kissed his forehead then slipped out of his lap. “I’d better start dinner. The boys are due here any time now to help us celebrate our anniversary.”
“Twenty-five years, and counting,” he said. “Who knew the pretty young woman I bumped into in that florist shop would become the center of my life?”
She turned to smile at him. “I did, and I’ve never regretted a minute of it. Now, turn that thing off and come help, if you would. The table needs setting, for starters.”
“Well, it is a special day.”
“Indeed it is, my love. Indeed it is.”

ABOUT EDWARD KENDRICK
I began writing a few years ago after joining an online fanfic group. Two friends and I then started a group for writers, where they could post any story they wished no matter the genre or content. Since then, for the last five years, I’ve been writing for publication—my first book came out in February of 2011. Most, but not all, of my work is M/M, either mildly erotic or purely ‘romantic.’ More often than not it involves a mystery or action/adventure, and is sometimes paranormal to boot.
