ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
I’m immensely grateful to the friends who have supported me through the past eighteen months, making the road to Cataveiro and the transition to life in publication that much lighter. Particular mention must go to my sister, Kim, for critiquing the drafts I wouldn’t dare show anyone else; to my parents, for always being there, and for understanding when I’ve been a hopeless correspondent; to M-P for those late nights talking through tricksy narrative issues; to John for supporting me through all the seen and unforeseen challenges of the writing life; to Chris and Nina for their friendship, advice, and inspiration; to Lavie for helping me find my feet in the hitherto mysterious world of SFF; to my editorial gurus Michael Rowley and Emily Yau for their insight, patience and invaluable work on the book; to the team at Del Rey UK for putting Cataveiro out into the world: a thousand thank yous.
