I want to shout-out my gratitude to Nick Cole and Michael Bunker for making me part of the Apocalypse Weird team. I confess I was both thrilled and unnerved when Michael asked me to hop on board. Excited, of course, because who wouldn’t want to be part of something this big? But also nervous I wouldn’t make it. Needless to say, seeing my name next to Nick’s, Michael’s, and all the others—Jennifer Ellis, Chris Pourteau, Eric Tozzi, Stefan Bolz, Hank Garner, Kim Wells and all the AW writers—was a great motivation and inspiration. Thank you, guys, for all your incredible support!
I’m indebted to my first readers and in-house experts: Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Mike Martin for his input on all things military and for helping me develop the background story for the general; Michael Collett and David Parish-Whittaker for teaching me how to fly a helicopter, albeit fictionally; Shane Williams for educating me on the culture of Thrash Metal; and of course my awesome beta readers who helped me make this story so much stronger: Kat Fieler (who made some priceless suggestions), George Marquartd, Karen Alaniz, Andie McLaughlin-Kysar, and Chris Pourteau.
Thank you to the Editor in Chief and Red Pen Extraordinaire Ellen Campbell for putting up with all my typos and Italo-English mix-ups. Thank you to Dr. Midnite for coming over to my world strand to provide some of his rambles.
And last but not least, thank you to my family for always believing in me.
