“I’m not going to have a winter fling with you,” he continued, “because I want a whole lot more. I want autumn, spring and summer.” He paused. “I want you. And FYI, I’m not taking your out. I want that I love you, and in turn I’ll give it right back to you.”
God, her heart, she thought again. It was fluttering and dipping like that bat. “Then say it,” she insisted. Because she so wanted to hear it.
He didn’t stop with the nipple toying. Brody was doing his Brody thing. And he nipped her bottom lip. “I’m in love with you, Janessa.”
Every puzzle piece in the universe fell into place, and just like that, everything started again. The air, her breathing and her heart.
“Good. I’m in love with you, too,” she repeated since she was pretty sure he wanted to hear it.
Also, because turnabout was fair play, she danced her fingers over the front of his zipper. “Want to celebrate in your truck?” Because it didn’t seem right to have sex in front of her father’s grave. You know, just in case that bat was indeed a hereafter sign kind of deal.
Brody got right to his feet, stuffed the tablet in her purse so she could latch on to it. Just as he latched on to her and scooped her up.
There were so many things that were still to-be-determined, but this sure as heck wasn’t one of them.
Snuggled in the blanket, and in his arms, Janessa kissed Brody all the way to his truck.
