I felt for them both. It’d been a while since I’d figured out Kellan had feelings for Shan, though he’d denied it. And then, last month, I walked in on them in Finnegan’s study at home in Villanova. They’d been kissing. I’d slammed the door shut and nearly freaked out.
Kellan had pleaded with me not to say anything to Finnegan. He needed time, he’d said. And to be honest, I didn’t know what he’d meant by that—not to this day. Unless something was going to change. Time indicated this wasn’t something they were going to deny until they died. So, maybe I was wrong. Maybe it wasn’t new…?
Either way, I’d acted on instinct and agreed, and I’d gone a step further to help them. I’d gotten the boss out of town by telling Finnegan I desperately needed a vacation. I’d piled on the list of white lies until he’d booked us tickets for the following day.
“I kinda want them to happen,” Luna admitted.
“Me too.” I’d thought it over so many times. Kellan was sweet and protective, and…Shannon was evidently into that.
Perhaps my father-in-law was bi?
“More, Mommy,” Ryan complained when I stopped scratching his scalp. “Pwease?”
I chuckled and returned my fingers to his soft hair.
“Listen.” Luna held up a finger and cocked her head.
I listened…
When he’d wrapped up the call, I couldn’t help myself.
“Honey?” I called in a singsong voice. “Finnegan!”
He poked his head out from the kitchen. “What,” he asked flatly.
“How’s dinner coming along?”
He sucked his teeth and got heated, speaking with his hands. “They were shit steaks and shit potatoes. We did everything right. We followed the goddamn recipe.”
I blew him a kiss.
He was just too cute. Life with a mobster was surprisingly easy when he came home at the end of the day, threw his tie over his shoulder and changed his son’s diaper, helped his daughter with homework, and burned steaks to a crisp and got bitchy about it.
Choosing this life with Finnegan O’Shea had given me everything.
It’s Not Over

Cara freely admits she’s addicted to revisiting the men and women who yammer in her head, and several of her characters cross over in other titles. If you enjoyed this book, you might like the following.

Path of Destruction (M/F) A gritty rock-star romance with a twist. Lincoln Hayes is one of the world’s most famous guitar players when he shares a summer of sex, drugs, and rock n roll with Adeline Ivey. A summer that ends in tragedy and incarceration. About Cara
Wait…this was supposed to be about me, not my writing.
I'm a writey person who loves to write. Always wanderlusting, twitterpating, kinking, and geeking. There’s time for hockey and cupcakes, too. But mostly, I just love to write.
