The team eventually found Jackie bleeding in the room, with all the bodies I had left behind. The computer was on a table in a dark corner. She was crying and sobbing when the team had found her. But eventually they would all find relief, because now it was over…well and truly over.
When the computer had gone missing, Jackie realized that she had someone who came in regularly to see her and update her with information. He had casually found the computer on her desk and had put it in his bag and walked away. There was nothing suspicious about his coming and going because Liam had become a known face at the department. ‘Outfoxed by a fucking crab,’ Jackie was saying.
The sound of sirens had died away in the distance as I casually walked away into the night. Everything had fallen silent as darkness began to circle and tenderly dance all around me – caressing me; and the wind came softly blowing a blood thrill into my heart.
