Audrey.
My jaw drops open when I look up at Colin. He flashes me a sweet smile. Perry grins at me in a what took you so long expression.
“I-I don’t know what to say.” I stare at my name, now a part of a bigger family just as I always wanted. A lump forms in my throat.
I belong.
“Say you’ll marry us.”
I nearly break my neck to look at Colin, who is down on one knee, offering a ring in the center of his palm.
I dart my gaze back and forth between him and Perry, who is on her knee too. Both of them full of all the love I see every single day, yet it’s intensified.
They want me. Forever.
“Yes,” I whisper. “Yes. Yes. A million times yes.”
“Hooray!” Perry shouts. “I can’t wait to tell everyone my mom is a unicorn!”
My smile is watery. She thinks of me as her mom. She wants me as her mom.
Colin gently pulls off my mitten and slips the ring on my left hand. It glitters, reflecting the snow. The diamond is simple, beautiful, and perfect.
When I find my voice, I pull on Perry’s pigtail. “And I can’t wait to tell your brother or sister they have a fairy for a sister.”
Her brow furrows.
Colin, who was halfway off the gazebo decking, sinks back down. He looks at my stomach. Then at me.
“Are we—”
I nod. “We’re going to need to add another name to this ornament.”
“I’ll have a troll?” Perry throws her arms around me.
I laugh. “Is that what you think your brother or sister will be?”
“Maybe.” She giggles, that sweet sound I never get tired of.
Colin hugs my waist. “I love you.”
I embrace them both. “I love you too.”
They’d given me everything. What seemed like an accident was pure fate. And this was just the beginning.
