    Reform of the Rake

Lowri and Adam found their daughter standing up in her cot, banging the rails with her new teddy.

‘Mum-mum!’ she said with a wide smile, then spotted Adam. She bridled a little flirtatiously, dropped the teddy and held up her arms. He scooped her up and held her close, his eyes meeting Lowri’s over her head.

‘She knows me,’ he said incredulously.

‘She knows you’re a soft touch!’ said Lowri, grinning, then raised an eyebrow at a look of panic on his face. ‘What’s up?’

‘She’s a bit damp round the edges!’

Lowri’s lips twitched. ‘Right. You may as well start as you go on. You can change her nappy.’

Laughing uproariously at Adam’s look of horror, Lowri gave him step-by-step instructions on the process, which Rhosyn proceeded to make as difficult as she possibly could, sensing an amateur. Lowri looked up with a smile as Dominic popped a tousled head round the door, brandishing the intercom speaker.

He smiled cheekily. ‘I can hear every word on this, you know, so just in case you’re going to get soppy I’ve brought it back.’ He sauntered over to eye Adam’s panting exertions with the wriggling baby. ‘Gosh, you’re not much good as a dad, are you?’

Adam looked up at Lowri with a smile of such triumph that her eyes filled. ‘Not yet,’ he agreed, ‘and for this particular job I don’t intend to be, frankly.’ He picked up his daughter and tossed her in the air. ‘But otherwise, all I need is practice!’
