Deepest gratitude to my incredible editor, Alyson Day, for your belief in this story, and for always shining a light along the twisty road of writing.
Thanks are also due to the amazing team at Harper-Teen and HarperCollins, especially Manny Blasco, Renée Cafiero, Liz Byer, Aubrey Churchward, Helen Crawford-White, and Joel Tippie. Talented artists and designers, copy editors, proofreaders, and publicists champion books with little recognition, and to them I am so grateful.
To the authors who paved the way before me and continue to offer a helping hand, a much-needed talk, or a sense of calm before a storm: Kerry Kletter, Jennifer Niven, Amy Reed, and Amber Smith.
I am also grateful to the Electric Eighteens, the Nebo Retreaters, and the amazing authors with whom I have had the honor of serving on panels. You all make this sometimes isolated profession a heck of a lot more fun. Thanks for sharing your jokes, wise words, and wine with me.
And last, thanks always to my husband and daughters. Your love and support are immeasurable, and I am honored to share this life with you.
