“That won’t be very useful. Maybe I have misplaced my faith in you.”
“I think we both know that you haven’t. We will find a way to force a breach into our realm, and now when we do, we can hold it open longer.”
“Continue to push them, and I will look into breaching the veil from this side.”
“Thank you for your patience, Master.”
“This is something that we need to do right; we may only have one chance. To waste that opportunity would be pointless.”
“I agree.”
“Speak now; I have other matters to attend to.”
“It is not time yet to rise from the shadows. Do all that you can to remain hidden, and do not initiate a confrontation.”
“Yes, Master. Holding this many demons in one location will start to draw unwanted attention at some point.”
“Then expand, grow, but stay in the shadows.”
“As you command.”
The blood in the rivulets finally evaporated, and her connection with her master was gone. Grow, expand, that was something she could do. Now she just needed to find the right person to put in charge of it. She had someone in mind, but his ambitious nature might be too great to overcome. It was something to think about for later. She had a few days before any decision had to be made. With her mind at ease for the first time all day, she left the summoning chamber and went back into her rooms. A warm bath would ease the rest of the tension from her muscles.
As she exited the room, her servant sent a woman in to remove the body. The door to her bath chamber was already open, and two servants waited to help pull the tension from her muscles. She walked down the steps into the warm milky water and breathed a sigh of relief. One of her servants swam forward and moved behind her. She started to pour water over her shoulders and then started to massage the tense muscles. Her other servant came forward and started to bathe the rest of her body, gently soaping it and washing her with a sponge, the entire time looking into her master’s eyes with desire. Finally, when she could take it no longer, she pulled the woman up and kissed her.
