ELLIE
Two years later…
I never thought this day would come. Two years ago, I didn’t even know where my life was heading. Instead today, here I am, getting ready to walk down the aisle and marry my best friend’s brother.
Derek has been everything and more than I could have ever asked for. Since Lauren’s wedding, he committed to me, and we’ve been inseparable since. Our relationship reminds me a lot of what Lauren and Kev have.
To this day, D and I still can’t seem to keep our hands off of one another. It’s crazy. We’ve got this intense chemistry that nothing else compares to it. It’s so amazing.
Today, Lauren and her husband, Kev, are standing next to Derek and me as we say our vows. Of course, now she’s pregnant with their first child, so there’s that. She’s still freaking glowing and gorgeous. I know she’s surely going to make a fantastic mother in four months. I can’t wait to meet my Goddaughter and niece.
After Derek and I say, “I do,” and he kisses me for the thousandth time in our lives, I look out where all of our guests are seated and see my mother sitting closely next to Harold.
Good old Harold, Mr. Full Moon. I chuckle to myself thinking back on the way I had met him. Lord knew that wouldn’t be something I could soon forget… unfortunately.
Anyway, the good thing about it all is that Mom and Harold got married six months after Lauren’s big day. Yeah, I know… another marriage. But hey, when you’re happy, you’re happy. And of course, you just know.
They had a small wedding that was nothing less than lovely. I’m so happy my mother finally found her happily ever after once again; Harold is a great guy, and he’s been so damn good to her. Thanks, Full Moon.
As for me, I’m more than thrilled to be starting my own happily ever after, right here right now with the one man who I’ve been in love with for as long as I can remember. I was too young to know any better at first, but once I knew, Derek was all I could ever think about. He is my one and my only, and I’m so glad to be Mrs. Derek Mykels.
Derek
Thinking back two years ago to when I almost lost Ellie for good really seems like a nightmare. A nightmare that I was thankfully able to wake up from.
Ellie has been the one thing in my life to make me feel whole and complete. I’m so thankful that in the end, I’m standing with her right beside me, on our wedding day. I love her so freaking much.
Thanks to Ellie, she changed the man who I used to be. Hell, I say man, but in reality, I was just a boy. A boy who only cared about himself and nobody else.
Back in high school and college, I swore I was God’s gift to women. Now I know, the greatest gift from God is standing right beside me, making me the happiest man in the world.
It’s funny to think how something that started off as just a deal, a secret plan between the two of us, between the sheets, turned out to be the one thing I can’t live without.
Ellie, my darling Eloise, has been a treasure and a gift that I refuse to take advantage of like how I used to do everything–and everyone–else.
I’ve made a ton of mistakes in my life. Hell, if I’m being honest, I was a total douche. But now, thanks to my Ellie, I’m a changed man.
Thanks to Ellie, life has meaning, and I can’t wait to start our forever right here, right now.
I lift her up off her feet, kissing her once we’re pronounced husband and wife.
My wife.
I don’t care if it’s not the typical thing to do to pick up your wife right after. I spin her around, just like I did two years ago when we officially got together at Lauren’s wedding, and she rewards me with the prettiest smile I’m so happy I get to witness every single day.
For the rest of my life, as long as I live.
This is our story.
I made the best decision I could have ever made and married the love of my life, Eloise Evers Mykels… my Ellie. She’s my queen, and I’m her king.
