“We will, too,” Annabel said.
“I was going to tell Dr. Keeton stuff at this week’s meeting but, well … she was already gone. I went to Victor’s house last week and he really freaked me out; seemed like his schizophrenia was getting worse. And did you know he actually does have the snake he talked about?”
“Yes, we heard,” Annabel said.
“What do you think is going to happen to him? Victor, I mean.”
“He was whisked away to another psychiatric facility where he’s under guard. They’ve also provided him with a pro bono defense attorney.”
They stood on the path as the last stragglers passed around them. Annabel narrowed her bleary eyes.
“He’s a victim in all of this, too,” Annabel said, “of paranoid schizophrenia.” She wiped away a tear and Orange nodded.
“Now remember to follow Dr. Keeton’s advice and take care of yourselves,” Annabel added.
“We will,” Orange said and locked arms with Timmy and Joshua.
Annabel and Bob stepped up their pace. They stopped at Bob’s car and he opened the door for her.
“Another rotation behind us,” Bob said. “Congratulations.”
“Congrats to you, too,” she said, “but let’s never again encounter the deaths we witnessed on psychiatry.”
They locked eyes in agreement and Annabel and Bob followed the last cars leaving the cemetery.
