  Thankfully, her life was not yet completely over. There were many ways in which Freeze’s magic could sustain her, keep her flame from burning out, add his wisdom to hers. Just without his body or soul…without his enchanting touch.

  Twyla knelt down and opened the bottom drawer of her dresser, buried the amethyst underneath a stack of men’s T-shirts—Freeze’s T-shirts—and closed the drawer with a sigh.

  It was for the best.

  At the sound of her bedroom door opening, she shot back up to standing, but did not face the man. “Hello, lover.” The words fell from her lips as anticipatory wetness pooled between her legs…just as it had every time since she’d first fucked him one month earlier.
