Diana held out their crying son to him. “He wants his dad.”

Asher hesitated for a moment before he took the baby and cradled him in his arms. The baby quieted down as Asher rocked him gently and began singing a quiet tune to him.

The others left the room. And Diana closed her eyes to rest, listening to the sweet sound of Asher singing to their son.

      Thank You

Thank you so much for reading Wild Inside. If you want to find out how Teagan, Diana, and Hannah became such good friends, you can get a FREE copy of Colorado Girls, a fun little prequel story, by joining my email list. Colorado Girls isn’t for sale anywhere and is only available for members of the Artemis world. It’s my little thank you for supporting my work.

So, Wild Inside: What’s funny is that after writing Afterglow, I was extremely attached to Teagan and Aaron. They were my “first,” after all. I thought to myself, I need to write about Diana and Asher, and then about Hannah, and I’ll love them too, but they’ll never fully live up to Teagan and Aaron. Yeah, that went out the window in the first draft of Wild Inside. Diana and Asher’s characters and relationship took on a life of their own and I grew super attached to them too.

Afterglow had its own theme that arose during its creation, and Wild Inside is no different. On the surface, it appeared like Diana and Asher were opposites in terms of values: she was traditional, wanting marriage and kids, and Asher was unconventional, wanting freedom and adventure. One theme that surfaced was that of being true to who you are instead of blindly living by the standards you were raised with. In Diana’s case, she’d been holding on to some of the traditional values she’d been raised with, values represented by her relationship with Matthew. It took time (and some crises) for her to see that that’s not who she really is. Asher went the other way, rebelling against the strict Mormon values he’d been raised with to the point of avoiding any commitment and not letting himself have the family he wanted so badly. Both had to face some demons to change, which is often how it works in real life. Only then could they see how perfect they were for one another.

      Happy reading and adventures…

      Love,

      Artemis
