Zeke places me tenderly onto the bed.
“After what you just gave me, I’m willing to do anything. I’ll give you the world if you ask for it,” he replies, stepping back from the bed.
He’s still dressed in his shirt and suit jacket, and they cover everything apart from his legs and strong thighs.
“Arabella?”
“Yes,” I murmur, full of contentment.
“We wasted too many years. I don’t want to waste any more. I know you’re it for me. I want you to move into my place. I want you to marry me, and one day, I want you to grow big with our children. Will you?”
I sit up, shock flooding my body. It’s too soon. We’ve only just started to get to know each other again. It’s happening too quickly. I feel sick. I feel dizzy, and my heart is beating rapidly in my chest. It’s not the thought of saying yes to Zeke that’s causing it, though, it’s the thought of saying no. He’s right. We’ve wasted too many years. We’ve been given a second chance, and I’m not about to risk losing him again.
“Yes, I’ll do all of those things, but can we leave the children a few years, please. Several of the team got injured tonight. I want to make sure, just like I did with you, I can get them playing again.”
