I did a silly thing this past year and decided to write 4 books. Not gonna lie, there were days when I thought I’d shot myself in the foot with this goal. But…I pulled it off. Finishing Blood Dolls was a proud, exhausting achievement for me. And I muscled through it with a heavy heart.
My Uncle Joe, one of my favorite people in the world, was diagnosed with cancer in October of 2017, and we lost him just one month later. While helping clean out his apartment, I found a first edition of my very first novel on his book shelf—next to a book on world religions. He encouraged and inspired me in a lot of ways growing up, and he meant a great deal to so many people. The world is a sadder place without him.
These books don’t happen without lots of help. So, as always, I owe thanks to the following awesome people: my husband, Paul, for doing his best to answer all my obscure firearm questions (Would skeet target shells blow off someone’s arm?) and for being my sounding board, proofreader, muse, and so much more; my kiddo, Xavier, who made frequent trips into my writing cave to offer kisses and to share his snacks with me; my critique group, the Four Horsemen of the Bookocalypse: Kory M.
