Tanys' thoughts turned to Haru's offer. The satyr claimed that skilled warriors such as her were treated like gods in the southern deserts of his homeland. In any case, the beast-man promised a rich reward to her, would she but escort him home to claim it. Jorva's head already ran wild with Haru's tales of sun-bleached arenas and moon-drunk orgies. At least it would be warm there. Tanys was so weary of the cold.
Carathan muttered in his sleep as the chamber door pulled quietly shut, leaving him alone in the warm glow of slumbering power.
