“But you just said releasing it doesn't guarantee it stays.” Andrew said.
“It is a risk, I understand. But what’s better - allow the Children of the Chosen to control all magic or for there to be none for them to control at all.”
“And I'm supposed to just be okay with the prospect of dying?” Dessen said. “I didn't ask to be turned into a vampire but it's the magic that's keeping me alive, without it everyone who's like me - the good and the bad - would be killed if magic ceased to exist.”
Ahmentree nodded. “I understand that it is a gamble but sometimes the good outweighs the bad, even though the good causes something bad.”
“We need to do it.” Clive said.
“How can you agree with this? You could die as well.” Dessen said.
“He's right.” Jacob said. “They both are. It’s a risk but sometimes the greater good wins out.”
It seemed like his words decided it. We were going to go to the first dimension, where magic was held, to release it so the Children of the Chosen couldn’t control it.
In two short weeks, my life changed completely. I would have never, in my wildest dreams, ever thought I would be here.
But there I was, with the most random group of friends and allies. Two Unbounds, two halflings, one vampire, two coven heirs, and the plan from a Romar for us to go and save magic.
I closed my eyes and let it all sink in. When I made the decision to drive to the house this morning, I hoped for answers about my family. I never expected that I would have to help save all of magic. The lives of millions of magical beings were on the line. We had no time to waste.
