“I can handle that,” Cormack insisted.

“What about him?” Aidan gestured toward Titus. “What do we do with him?”

I thought of Luna. “I know someone who can help me modify his memories. We can plant things in his head and use him as a spy going forward.”

Titus balked. “I will never turn on my people.”

“You won’t even know you’re doing it,” I said dismissively. Luna would be a good ally, especially if nobody knew she was on our side. “I don’t even know where to start with this. It’s going to take all of us working together to get through it. I’m sorry ... for all of it.”

“You didn’t cause this,” Braden insisted. “This isn’t your fault.”

“No, but I’ve played into it every step of the way.”

“We’ll figure it out,” Cormack promised. “At least now we know how they plan to infiltrate us. We know they have help.”

“We also know that we’re going to need an army to take them on,” I pointed out.

“Maybe not,” Paris countered, speaking for the first time since everything had gone down. I’d almost forgotten she was present. “We have help coming in a few weeks. Good help.”

Her friends. I’d forgotten about their visit. “Do you really think they can help?” Suddenly I was hopeful.

Paris nodded without hesitation. “Oh, they’ll help. We just have to figure out exactly what we’re dealing with before they get here.”

“How hard can that be?” Redmond asked, earning groans from his siblings.

“You just jinxed us.” Aisling flicked his ear and then turned her eyes to Griffin. “Are you ready for another reaper apocalypse?”

He smirked. “Yes — just as soon as we reclaim our daughter. Can we do that now?”

She sighed. “Yeah. That means we’re going to have to leave everyone else with all the cleanup work.” Her lips curved as she fought — and failed — to maintain a straight face. “I’m okay with that.”

He slung his arm around her shoulders. “Oddly enough, so am I.”

Braden kissed my cheek and rubbed his hands over my shoulders. “What about you? Do you want to dump the work on us? I’m okay if you do.”

I instantly started shaking my head. “No. We’re in this together, right? That means all of it.”

      “Together, forever.”

I smirked at the schmaltzy sentiment. “I think I can live with that.”

There was a lot to deal with, a conspiracy to unfold and demons trying to cross over from another world. As long as we had each other, I was hopeful.

“I guess we should start with Titus. I’ll go up and collect Luna. She’ll be a good ally after all. After that, we’ll play it by ear.”

“We’ll get through this,” Cormack promised, his eyes darkening as they landed on Mary. “No matter what, we’re family, and we’ll get through this together.”

On that one fact, we could all agree.

      About the Author

I want to thank everyone who takes the time to read my novels. I have a particular brand of humor that isn’t for everyone – and I know that.

If you liked the book, please take a few minutes and leave a review. An independent author does it all on their own, and the reviews are helpful. I understand that my characters aren’t for everyone, though. There’s a lot of snark and sarcasm in my world – and I know some people don’t like that.

Special thanks go out to Heidi Bitsoli and Phil VanHulle for correcting the (numerous) errors that creep into a work of fiction.

If you’re interested in my future works, follow me on Facebook, Twitter or join my mailing list. I do not believe in spam. I only announce new releases or free promotions.

This is a work of fiction. Names, characters, businesses, places, events and incidents are either the products of the author’s imagination or used in a fictitious manner. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, or actual events is purely coincidental.
