She gently kicked him and sniffed.
They sat in silence for minutes.
“Well, what am I supposed to do with myself now?” she wondered finally.
“Kiss me.”
Her brow furrowed again beneath her hat, and she examined him, looking for the joke. It didn’t come. He just continued to stare out at the water, fiddling with the grass entwined in his fingers.
“You kiss me,” she almost whispered.
His chest heaved a sigh and he slowly turned to face her. “Your hat’s in the way.”
Annoyance flickered across her face for the briefest of moments, before she pulled the hat off and tossed it aside, almost daring him.
He lightly threw the grass from his fingers and leaned in, tenderly pressing his lips to hers. A gentle feather of a kiss on her lower lip that sent a shiver down her spine.
She was done being teased, and kissed him back, open mouthed, waiting for his tongue. It tickled its way in and she lapped out at it with urgency.
