  The Human Experience

Our world is a giant scope through which we can see our future.

To look through this peering lens is to look upon a blur,

a not-even-a-blip in time to the eyes of the universe.

Yet we strive to thrive, there are pots to stir

and destinies with which we must confer,

there are ideas to birth for the better or worse.

If you look hard enough some things may become more clear,

but it's only for a brief moment that you persevere,

and then lines again begin to blur, and you, left with

the panic and sweaty palms, chapped lips with no chapstick

begin to emulate the chaos that the blurred lines triggered.

It's one of those moments where you thought you had everything figured,

as the rig-a-mirand ensues up comes a giant fissure, a wormhole

in the space time continuum which swallows the very essence of your being

into a silent abyss. You're falling so fast that the skin on your face is

wagging like a puppy's tail, you can feel the force of gravity pulling you down organs first,

  you wonder if you're dreaming.

Moments in time last days and the nights go by as you plummet toward... nothing..

You can't see the bottom. There is no light, this is no tunnel. During your

million-mile-a-minute in which minutes equal hours descent you find time to

ponder your existence. The moments that still humiliate you present themselves,

flashes and whirls called memories lash out at you,

dredging up the parts you'd done your best to forget.

Suddenly, your feet hit solid ground. You land

with a sticky, bone crushing thump on the cold concrete floors,

but the rough texture of the cheaply provided landing still provides some comfort.

You slowly begin to morph back in to what resembles your physical self...

As your rise and dust yourself off, it doesn't hurt to stand.

Before you are a peculiar arrangement of multicolored doors.

  Then you wake up.

Yes! It was a dream, as is everything we see or seem.

You very vaguely remember falling, but everything seems so fuzzy.

Before you lies a calm ocean, waves serenely lapping at the shoreline.

Yet out, in the distance, is a brooding storm...

  That, is the human experience.

  Happenstance

Happenstance is when life gives you true romance, or one last dance,

or the moment you synch with life's cadence.

It's the new perspective that conversation just gave you,

it's the new direction your path inadvertently leans to.

  Happenstance is a fortuidous coincidence,

from which we derive that doctrine of love more worry less.

It's the serene moment, where the sun glints just so,

it's the hour we spend playing in the snow.

It's the advanced rate at which we grow,

  the moment you feel in-the-know.

Happenstance is when you find that perfect pair of purple pants,

it's when you rebuke the no's and cant's.

It's the particular way the wind just blew,

it's the warm feeling inside your tummy while you eat home-made stew.

  Happenstance is deliverance,

it's the thing inside of us called perserverance.

It's the moment in which you decide to let go,

even though the perils of such a choice threatens your soul.

It's the philosophy of reaping what you sew,

  it's overcoming your greatest foe.

Happenstance in abundance, it's all around.

What you have lost will surely be found.

Take the sweet notes that lifes sings for you,

  recite them in your mind,

for happenstance will show you life is no grind.

Just something intricately, yet spontaneously timed.

  A Vague Vividity

How I long to thrive in the sun,

jubilant fires zestful in wanton need.

How the light can reflect from me,

only the most vivid a memory...

I once sat with you in the gold,

my head resting on your shoulder in days of old.

And as the embers lit the sky,

  My fingers intertwined with yours...

  We remained ashore for eternity

remembering the moments we swore we'd never forget.

And as the embers became small sparks in my heart,

The smallest tear of happiness drifted from my cheek to the wind.

  From a brazen light,

  to nostalgic sparks,

  does my love dwindle....

How I long to thrive in the sun again...

  A vivid distant memory...
