eyes as big as saucers watching two fairies on either side of Uncle Dan’s head.

“All right now, girls come here.” Uncle Dan motioned for the girls to come to him.

They were reluctant at first, but curiosity got the better of them.

“I hate to tell you this sweetheart, but that little stick you found today is a very important little stick; in fact it’s a wand and it belongs to a very good friend of mine here.”

Mr. Feathers put his hand up to his ear. Lally gently sat on his hand and Miggie flew to her side.

“Girls, these are my friends. Lally and Miggie, they are sweet little fairies and they fly about in my garden near the pond. But Lally lost her wand today and Fiona my dear you happened to find it. Now, you must give it back so that Lally won’t be punished. Do you understand?”

“No, this is very hard to understand.” Fiona said. Peering at the two little butterfly like fairies nestled in the palm of his hand.

Lally flew to her ear and whispered to her.

“Please little girl, we’re real, we really are and I need my wand back or Queen Serika will be so mad at me.”

Very slowly Fiona took the wand out of her pocket and gently held it up for Lally to take.

Lally was so excited and happy she flew all over the room sprinkling fairy dust and making everything sparkle. Miggie took hers out and joined Lally.

Elizabeth and Fiona went to Mr. Feathers and sat on either side of him watching the two funny little fairies fly about happily.

Cautiously Fiona looked up and called to Lally.

“Put your hand out my dear, you’re friends now.” Uncle Dan said.

Lally immediately flew down and settled into Fiona’s hand.

“Oh, you tickle a little.” Fiona laughed.

Miggie flew down to Elizabeth’s hand and curtsied.

  Elizabeth giggled and smiled happily.

“Lally?” Can we come to the garden tomorrow and see you?”

“Of course, we’re friends now, just like we’re friends with Mr. Feathers.”

“That is so much better than having a little wand, I’m so glad we met you.”

Fiona’s eyes were bright with wonder watching the tiny fairy in the palm of her hand.

The sky outside was starting to turn beautiful colors as the sun went down.

“What a pretty sky”. Fiona and Elizabeth remarked.

“Yes, that’s our sign to fly back home. All the fairies wherever they are will be flying back to Fairy Knoll. We’ve got to go now, but we’ll see you tomorrow. Goodbye and thank you for my wand; thank you ever so much.”

“Bye girls. See you soon. Lally, don’t lose that wand again.”

“I won’t Mr. Feathers, thank you too.”

As the three humans came out of the barn and looked up in the sky, they saw hundreds of tiny yellow lights all going in the same direction. Some sparkled, some glowed, but they were all beautiful.

“Elizabeth? We’ve had a very special day today. One I don’t think we will ever forget. And tomorrow, will be the best yet.”

“Uncle Dan, why have you never mentioned them before?” Fiona asked.

“Would you have believed me or just thought I was an old man imagining things?”

“I don’t know. But, seeing is believing, right?” She asked him.

“Not at all sweetheart, believing in something you can’t see, now that’s believing with a heart full of faith.”

Fiona gave her uncle a hug and together they walked back to the house.
