Elemental Eyed Treasure

Luci Lynch

“The Light of the lord surrounds me.

The Love of the lord enfolds me.

The Power of the lord protects me.

The Presence of the lord watches over me.

The Mind of the lord guides me.

The Life of the lord flows through me.

The Laws of the lord direct me.

The Power of the lord abides within me.

The Joy of the lord uplifts me.

The Strength of the lord renews me.

The Beauty of the lord inspires me.

Wherever I am, the lord is!”

Those were the last words my father spoke, as the hunters sent from Rome closed on our home. I sat holding my trembling mother as we feared for our capture, we knew this day would come but we didn’t anticipate it to be so soon.

My father cupped my cheeks and bellowed a cry before kissing my mother and I goodbye. I watched as my father pulled his sword from the mantle and drew it from its sheath, I had never seen such a beauty that was my father’s sword; it was a blade of the knights of Talar family.  He turned to me and handed me the chilling metal and sheath and whispered something to my mother nodded her head viciously.

I looked to my father for guides on what shall we do.  But the Hunter broke down the front door to our home before my father could utter a word. Blades clashed as my father fought for us, I will never forget the expression that held on the murders face. He looked to be satisfied with his killing, my mother screamed in agony over the loss of her soul. I pulled her to her feet as we hurried up the stairs to bedroom. I rush to open a window and I hear sounds of yelling men from downstairs, I hurry to open the door before I hear the safe sounds of wolves howling.

Taking a breath of the wine tasted air; I looked behind my head to my mother to follow me. We went onto the balcony waiting for the Redwing pack to get here, lying against the cold stone holding tightly onto my mother's hand.

The wolves came just as the hunter busted threw the bedroom door; we looked to the garden to see Rayne and my father’s friend Fredrick with open arms.  First my mother jumped than I but as I was to let go of my handle on the railing, my father’s murderer grabbed my wrist.

He held me close to his bony chest and whispered,” Your father was a fool and now you my prize are going to win Rome the title of king of the supernaturals.

I squirmed to see if I could release myself from his grip, he didn’t do anything but hold me between the railing and him tightly.  He pulled me over the railing and took my chin with his sweaty palm; he gazed deeply in my eyes making me squirm more. He slapped my cheek throwing me to the floor but he had just woken something in me, he wasn’t expecting and I burned him from the inside of his body.

I jumped into Rayne’s arms and that’s when the three of us, my mom, Jamie and Rayne the bests of friends, ran for the Americas.

I stirred awake from a nightmare of a night I truly wish to forget. I stretched my muscles as I looked into the rearview mirror to have silvine green stare back at me.

My mom’s sky blue eyes met mine as she turned to look back at me. I smiled softly at her, we knew it was hard moving around a lot to make sure of our safety and not having a place to call home anymore just made it a harder journey to travel.

I inherited my looks from my father; I stood at five feet and eight inches with a slim figure and curves. My wavy fiery orange hair fell to the end of my tale bone, to complement my hair I had my fathers big silvine green eyes. My skin was pale like a ghost, but it didn’t stop me from obtaining my mother’s busty chest and ass.

Rayne, my best friend who accompanied my mother and I in escaping, looked at me with a smirk than confirmed, “ we will be in New Hope and Blackfish territory by lunchtime.”

I nodded my head and went back to against myself while I moved underneath my rainbow tie dye blanket, I sensed something dead and it ached my heart to know the earth was calling to me. I grabbed the door handle and screamed,” Stop the truck!”

Rayne brought the car to a rushing halt and looked at me with worry before either of them could ask what was wrong, I threw the door open following the earth’s call. I found myself wondering into a deep wood filled with dead tree stumps and burnt forest floor.

I whispered as I kneeled in front of large oak tree stump,” What has happened to this poor forest?”

Closing my eyes, I watched as the earth recreated the scene of the destruction.

Wolves ran ramped after a team of ruthless rouges holding torches tightly in their grips as they threw them around to block the pack from following. The rouges escaped and didn’t seem to care for their destruction of the forest. Soon the pack comes back with water buckets trying to stop the fire but was to late, it took the whole forest.

I kissed the stump and spoke gently,” thank you forest, I will help you flourish again.”

Standing to my feet I throw up my arms to the sky and thought of rain I concentrated as the sky filled with dark clouds. I closed my eyes and felt the drops fall to my face.

As they fell I touched the ground, put my palm down and let out a yell. The sprouts grew as the tree leaves turned green. I looked around as the forest slowly grew, it was beautiful. I got up and walked to the stump, I sat down and felt the rain as the forest grew all around me.

I sat in the rain and sighed in delight of the renewed forest, but before I opened my eyes to let the rain stop. I heard the sound of twigs breaking behind me.

Turning around I peered upon two wolves, one a silver wolf with grey eyes and the other with black fur and bright blue eyes. They seemed to be very intrigued by my presences not really sure what to do with me. I got up from sitting while the silver wolf stepped forward but as it step any closer, Rayne came charging down the path.

He yelled to me,” Soph, are you okay? What happened back there?”

When he reached me, his expression of worry hardened to a look of concern for the other two wolves.  I moved closer to Rayne but the silver wolf stopped me in my tracks growling viscously at me. Rayne responded to the wolf with a loud growl that shook the forest and the wolf stepped down letting me run to Rayne’s side.

We began walking away from the wolves and the sky started to clear up as we hurried out of the forest. When we got in the car, my mom turned to me and shook her head saying,” What happened back there?”

I shook my head saying,” nothing important.” I quickly gazed behind me to see two teens that looked to be the same age as me staring at the car, they both shared eyes of mossy brown.

I wondered what other intriguing things does New Hope have to offer to a hunted down treasure.
