This is a work of fiction. Names, characters, places, and incidents, including those based on the real world, are either products of the imagination of Kevin L. O'Brien or used fictitiously. Any resemblance to actual events, locales, or persons, living or dead, is entirely coincidental.

Because some ebook platforms do not support special characters, certain words may appear misspelled, but this was done deliberately to avoid the problem of the platforms deleting the characters. Also, the LRF platform used by older models of the Sony Reader does not permit the use of links to external URLs, whereas the PDB platform used by Palm reading devices does not support any form of linking whatsoever.

  Preface

The earliest of my previously published stories take place during 2009 (according to my in-universe chronology), the first year that Eile and Sunny lived together, shortly after they first met face-to-face. From there the Team Girl ebooks jump to their adventures in the Dreamlands, which all take place during a 75-day period in 2010. After that, the remaining stories describe them as married with children, living fully established lives as working adults and parents (while still having fantasy adventures). However, this also means that there are numerous gaps in the extended narrative, with new characters appearing out of nowhere but in circumstances that demonstrate they had actually been around for awhile before their introduction, and incidents being mentioned that obviously had important impacts and repercussions on the lives of all character, but which receive the barest description. No doubt this leads to questions in the minds of my readers, such as:

What's all this about Eile being turned into a Vampire?

How did Eile get the parasites that give her the ability to see patterns in the dark?

Who are the real fathers of Eile and Sunny's daughters?

How did Team Girl find the Dreamlands?

How did Team Girl meet and befriend Sir Differel Van Helsing?

Who trained Team Girl to use military firearms?

How did they get involved with exploring parallel Earths?

These and other questions will be dealt with in future stories, which I am currently writing, but which have some ways to go yet before being finished.

Two fairly important discrepancies that result from the broken narrative of my stories involve Eile and Sunny's pet Snowshoe Kitty, and the mad scientist Dr. Mabuse. Kitty is first officially portrayed in The Christmas Vampires set in 2019, but in-universe is first mentioned in Rhapsody in Orange set in 2010. Neither of these establishes just how important a character she is, and pretty much portray her as just a pet. At best they demonstrate that she lived with the Girls and their daughters for at least nine years. The official purpose of this story is to show how Kitty became the third member of Team Girl, and to explain the nature of cats in my fictional universe (though hints of that were made in various Dreamlands stories as well).

Dr. Mabuse is treated in much the same way. She is first mentioned in Masie's Mind, in a manner that suggests Eile is afraid of her. She doesn't show up again until six years later (in-universe), in Youthful Indiscretion, when she is portrayed as a friend and ally, and a member of the Caerleon Order. How this happened will be shown in a series of stories that I am currently writing, but for now it is just an inexplicable turn of events that (I hope) will wet my readers' appetites. In any even, the secondary purpose of this story is to officially introduce Mabuse to the narrative, to establish her relationship to Team Girl, and to describe how they first met and why they continued to cross paths over the years.

This story takes place in January 2009, during the third week that Eile and Sunny are living together, and two weeks before the events in Masie's Mind.
