Dex the dog loves going to the farm.

He has lots of friends at the farm to play with.

He loves to play with his friend, Harry the horse.

He loves to play with his friend, Katy the cow.

He loves to play with his friend, Gus the goose.

He loves to play with his friend, Carly the cat.

He loves to play with his friend, Hetty the hen.

He loves to play with all his friends.

When Dex goes to the farm he is very happy.

“Do you want to play with me?” he asks his friend, Harry the horse.

“No, not today. I am too busy eating hay,” says his friend, Harry the horse.

“Do you want to play with me?” he asks his friend, Katy the cow.

“No, not today. I am too busy eating grass,” says his friend, Katy the cow.

“Do you want to play with me?” he asks his friend, Gus the goose.

“No, not today. I am too busy swimming,” says his friend, Gus the goose.

“Do you want to play with me?” he asks his friend, Carly the cat.

“No, not today. I am too busy sleeping,” says his friend, Carly the cat.

Dex the dog is very sad.

He has no one to play with.

He doesn’t know what to do!

All his friends are too busy to play with him.

Then he remembers his friend, Hetty the hen.

“Do you want to play with me?” he asks his friend, Hetty the hen.

“No, not today. I am too busy scratching in the dirt,” says his friend, Hetty the hen.

  “But hang on a minute!”

“My chicks will play with you!”

  “Really?” asks Dex the dog.

“Yes!” say the chicks. “We will play with you.”

“This is fun,” says Dex. “I love playing with the chicks!”

And they play all day long.

Then Dex gets so tired, he has to lay down for a rest.

“I had a great day today,” says Dex.

“There’s always someone at the farm who wants to play.”

“I wonder who will play with me next time?”

Will it be Harry the horse?

Will it be Katy the cow?

Will it be Gus the goose?

Will it be Carly the cat?

Will it be Hetty the hen?

Or will it be Hetty’s chicks?

Maybe they will ALL play with me!

That will be the best day ever!

Your support really does make a difference!
