“I was after the cheese, and I knew where it was. I did what came naturally to me; smell the cheese and go after it. Just because the cats passed a law banning cheese-hunting, the mice are not going to stop lusting after it and would stop at nothing to overcome all obstacles to attain it!”

“Bob, I’m late,” Petra’s latest breaking news was nothing new to Robert, “From where I come from, the surprise is only when none of the women end up complaining about being late!” Petra knew very well that making biological connections including the passionate exchange of bodily fluids was an excellent way to retrieve secrets from the gentlemen she was interested in. The way she put it, “It’s a small price to pay for national security!” Of course, she was talking about the national security of Russia!

  “Oh, Robert… Please….”

“Do you want me to stop Bianca?”

“Can’t you go any faster than this?”

“Well, the posted speed limit here is only 55MPH, but I’m willing to do only thirty, unless you’re on your second one!”

“I’d a little one Robert; does that count?”

“I felt that one too Bianca, but no; not a chance; I need to hear the whole shebang if you want me to go any faster than this!”

Bianca was wiggling and giggling under him and he was enjoying every bit of her antics. She’d a certain inane skill and he loved that about her; “God, it’s so much more fun dating these young untouched beauties,” thought Robert as he proceeded to take Bianca and himself where no man had gone before — virgin territory, where the key words were ‘surprise; I’m in!’

  Chapter One

Robert was born into an affluent family and just the fact that he had arrived ensured him a seat at the prestigious Yale University. Members of Robert’s immediate family always attended the great Ivy League institution, no matter what their SAT scores were. Test scores were invented to keep the others away from gaining a foothold in these prominent establishments that required a special upbringing to be eligible for admission!

Most of the subpar students who got admitted to the university owing to their well-placed connections would graduate right on schedule with their gifted counterparts with at least a ‘C’ average, which was equal to an ‘F’ in traditional colleges where earned grades are a reflection on the competency of the professor—some are strict and wouldn’t think of passing any student who hasn’t mastered the material, while others are easy, depending on the reputation of the university.

Money talks in many private institutions and it also guarantees a degree, if a student’s family tradition dictates so. It was a win-win situation for both students and the university—the former with a much coveted degree and the latter with the necessary funds to continue being in business helping the well-to-do look good!

When Robert started growing up, it was understood that he would go into politics. People who had no money worked to make both ends meet, while citizens like Robert went into politics to make sure that their family fortunes didn’t vanish with political upheavals that happened from time to time—more like once every four years. “You have to be where the action is, and that’s in Washington, DC.,” that’s what Robert’s father had told him whenever he got to have a talk with the youngster. “We have a family tradition of being rich, and we want to keep it that way!”

When Robert was ready to attend high school, he was shipped to the Phillips Academy—a co-educational boarding high school for the rich and famous—in grades nine thru twelve, located twenty-five miles north of Boston, in Andover, Massachusetts. Phillips Academy is the oldest boarding school in the United States; it was established in 1778 by Samuel Phillips, Jr., who was considered a merchant, a manufacturer and a patriot—all rolled into one fine gentleman—a quality unseen in today’s noblemen.

If selling arms to the military could make one a patriot, then, firms such as Lockheed Martin, Boeing, and BAE Systems, all would fall into that revered category. Beginning in 1775, Phillips built a factory for producing gunpowder for George Washington's troops at a mill on the banks of the Shaw Sheen River in Andover, providing Samuel with richness that ultimately enabled his philanthropic activities. Establishing the Phillips Academy in Andover gave Phillips the honor as a pioneer in American education.

American President Hoover—a republican—dramatically increased tax rates in the 1930’s and President Roosevelt compounded the damage by pushing marginal tax rates to more than ninety percent. Recognizing that high tax rates were hindering the economy and the progress of the nation, President Kennedy—a democrat—proposed across-the-board tax rate reductions that reduced the top tax rate from more than ninety percent down to seventy percent.

But now, the highest tax rate in the United States is only thirty-eight percent, making sure that the rich keep their money where it belongs—generating yearly dividends taxed only at a meager fifteen percent—enabling millionaires like Mitt Romney to pay taxes as low as thirteen percent, a rate lower than the common folks. Robert’s job was to make sure that there is not going to be a socialistic style redistribution of wealth in America. He and his rich counterparts liked the new tax rates, and they wanted it to stay that way, if not lower!

The argument went something like this, “If everyone is poor, then who is going to provide jobs for the underprivileged? What about small businesses? We don’t want them going bankrupt, do we?” The proponents argued that in a socialist economy, the only jobs were the government jobs. On the other hand, as per the American dream, “Any fool can start a small business and become rich overnight. You want it; you got to go after it!”

But the fact of the matter is that, businesses need consumers, who in turn need cash to buy whatever the businesses are offering at exorbitant prices. The number of businesses also depends on the population and the clientele that would patronize such an enterprise. Starting a business is easy, but generating operating profits out of them is where the hard work needs to be invested in.

Forgetting to do the basics could lead one into a bankruptcy court resulting in the loss of even the seed money that went into establishing the small business in the first place. Contrary to common wisdom perpetrated by the ill-advised republicans, there is a limit to the number of small businesses that can be started in one place. The key is to provide a service or sell a product that consumers would want to buy, so that the small business can make a profit!

When republicans talk about small businesses, they are not talking about actual small enterprises that employ workers and contribute to the economy in general; rather, they are interested in padding the wallets of educated professionals like doctors and lawyers, who register their practices as a small business.

It’s true that these ‘fat-cats’ employ secretaries and bookkeepers to run their practices smoothly, but calling themselves a small business is not fair to actual small companies that do employ real workers and contribute to the American economy in the long run. It is necessary to enact laws delineating actual small businesses as such and exempting anyone making over a million dollars from taking advantage of tax loopholes to avoid paying their fair share of the tax bill!

According to the United States Internal Revenue Service, a rich man—who hires employees such as babysitters, caretakers, cleaning people, domestic workers, drivers, health aides, housekeepers, maids, nannies, private nurses, and yard workers—is consider
ed a small business contributing to the American economy. But in fact, all he does is contributing to his own economy, and it doesn’t make any sense why the government should give him tax breaks to hire these people to take care of his personal needs.

But considering the fact that most congressmen employ such people in their households, it’s no wonder that they pass such laws to enable their way of life. Can there be a solution to this burgeoning problem? Of course there is; just listen to what Jesus has to say about a rich man getting into heaven and apply that same concept to the congressional office—making sure that the possibility of a rich man ever getting elected to congress is as good as that of a camel going through the eye of a needle. There can be exceptions, of course—whenever the majority of US Citizens make it rich, then the law shouldn’t apply!

“BOB, I’M LATE,” PETRA announced as soon as she walked in to visit with Robert. She was one of the many he was dating at the time, while completing his degree at Yale. Petra was on a student visa from Russia and she was looking for well-to-do Americans who might be going places. It was necessary for her to make the right connections as part of her job description. There was no better place than Yale to do so. Robert didn’t care much about such things as long as the lady in question was well put together and pleasing to behold— he was at a stage in life where his hormones ran amuck!

Petra’s latest breaking news was nothing new to Robert, “From where I come from, the surprise is only when none of the girls end up complaining about being late!” Petra knew very well that making biological connections including the passionate exchange of bodily fluids was an excellent way to retrieve secrets from the gentlemen she was interested in. The way she put it, “It’s a small price to pay for national security!” Of course, she was talking about the national security of Russia!

The Russians had a habit of sponsoring pretty young girls to do their studies in the United States and then help them settle down more like sleeper agents available at the beck and call of soviet authorities. Presidents come and go, but the spy agency and the secrets that needs to be collected remain a top priority at the high echelons of the Russian government.

When asked to report back to Russia as soon as the need arose, these young resourceful ‘would-be-spies’ were only too willing to put their life on hold to serve their motherland in whatever capacity they were asked to help. Getting pregnant was not part of the plan and Petra was sure Robert would take care of this little inconvenience the couple had encountered during a passionate encounter. “When the mood strikes you, where is the time for adorning precautions!”One wouldn’t want to pour cold water on a sure thing!

The reason Robert discreetly dated many girls at the time was to protect his status as a single guy. Keeping the girls mystified would ensure that he was perplexed too, and he could save his family jewels for the perfect companion who would take her rightful place at his side at the designated time. Robert being who he was, couldn’t settle for just any one lady friend. He had to think about family traditions and the genes that come along with a life-partner. Picking the right spouse was also important for his offspring as well as his political career.

Robert remembered reading somewhere about a trip president-elect Clinton and his wife Hillary took after the 1992-presidential elections. They were touring Clinton’s hometown—Littlerock—at the time and the couple stopped at a gas station and the attendant was overly excited to see Hillary. Later, when Bill asked who it was, she replied, “I used to date that man!” Upon hearing this, Bill responded, “Think about it honey; if you had married that jerk, now you would be the wife of a gas station attendant!” Without batting an eyelid, she replied; “No Bill; if I had married him, now he would be the president of the United States!”

Although Robert was a sworn conservative, taking care of business was not a problem for him. Getting a much hated abortion for his pregnant girlfriend didn’t bother his conscience at all. “When it comes to my family members, I do what is absolutely necessary,” that’s how he had explained the conundrum that was staring him right in the face in the form of Petra’s growing belly.

Money was not an issue for Robert, and once the procedure was done, Petra was as good as new in no time at all. When Robert asked, physicians listened; even the most conservative ones were ready to ease the path for him to wherever that took him. They all knew that, it’s only a matter of time before Robert was sworn in as a republican member of the US Congress and his coattails would come in pretty handy to anyone that sought it!

After the abortion, Robert had let Petra down easily. She took the rejection hard and somehow managed to return home to recuperate. She was due for a much wanted break, and her handlers were only too happy to pander to her wishes. Her exit from the scene didn’t bother Robert at all. After all, he had a coterie of willing bombshells ready to bed him at the drop of a hat.

Being overly friendly with a foreigner was something Robert could do without, although she was the most stunning thing that walked the halls at Yale. He was a politician in the making, and he had to be absolutely sure about anything he touched, whether it’s a girl or a car. As a rule, politicians drove American cars and married American girls. A first lady with an accent was something unthinkable at the time. Although president Obama is certified ‘half-white’, the white folks as well as the black folks consider him as the first black president of America!

As a general rule—before filing their papers as a candidate for the general election—the politician wannabes often make a beeline for trading-in their Mercedes and BMW’s for either a Cadillac, a Lincoln or a Buick. According to these would-be-leaders, driving an American car makes them so much more patriotic, although they might not even know how to spell that word!

Mitt Romney reiterated his patriotism in a recent speech in Michigan by saying, “I drive a Mustang and a Chevy pick-up truck. Ann drives a couple of Cadillacs, actually. And I used to have a Dodge truck. So I used to have all three covered.” He conveniently skipped the part about his millions being parked abroad in foreign banks more like foreign rulers of unstable countries—who are ready to bolt any minute—in case of an instant uprising or a military coup!

After returning to Russia, Petra kept in touch with Robert over cyberspace. Little did she know that his feelings for her might change with time and distance, and that the young man might even come looking for the bombshell, of all places, right at her doorstep. Probably it was a vacation he had in mind; he wanted closure, and he figured, “Where else to do it other than mother Russia herself?” He wanted her to be the most comfortable, when he broke the news to her. No one could accuse Robert of not having style!

  Chapter Two

“Hi, Robert—, Robert—,” Petra kept waving her hand at Robert as he came out of customs at the Moscow Domodedovo Airport, located about fourteen miles southeast of Moscow. The airport is known to be the largest and the most promising Russian airport handling over twenty million passengers each year.

“Over here,” she called him towards her as the crowd consisting of a throng of relatives and taxi drivers was really huge at the arrival gate. Petra was jubilant to see that Robert had finally made it to Russia to enjoy the country and be with her.

“Oh, there you are, Petra. For a minute there, I thought you’d forgotten all about me!”

“Not a chance, mister; you’re my hero and I’m never going to forget about you,” responded Petra. She was absolutely right about that; she’d no intention of letting Robert escape from her clutches. For one, Petra liked the guy — the most influential person she knew in the US, and secondly, the nation —Russia — had big plans for him!

She ran up to him, jumped up, put her hands around his neck in a bear-hug and gave him a quick smooch. “The girl knows how to make a man feel special,” thought Robert while returning her enthusiasm in full measure. He didn’t hesitate to join in the fun.

“Did you miss me?” she asked him, pointedly.

€œWho wouldn’t miss a girl like you?” retorted Robert, giving her another little kiss on her cheek.

“Oh, I’m so glad you’re finally here; I’ve so much to tell you,” Petra kept gushing, overjoyed to see Robert, whom she thought she would never see again.

  “What’s our plan, Petra?”

“Well, first we’ll have to wait to synchronize our time zones. Once that’s out of the way, I’m taking you sightseeing with the best guide money can buy!”

“You’ve a list of things we’re going to see?” Robert was curious. He wanted to take-in as much as he could. There is no guarantee that he might get another chance to visit this great nation of communists!

“Everything’s up here,” she pointed to her head.

“I can see your head looks really full,” he told her.

“FIRST THINGS FIRST,” SAID Petra while getting Robert to undress to his birthday suit. She was going to give him the ‘Petra-treatment’ to make him forget all about the long trip he had just taken to be with her. After tonight, she was sure that he would forget all about America, while celebrating their union together.

“My special bath is ready for you, my hero,” she cooed to him, and led him to the special bath she had prepared for him. It was more than Robert could have bargained for — a Russian bath by none other than Petra herself.

“Would you be joining me, moya printsessa?” Robert couldn’t help himself. He had looked up some Russian words on his way to the airport and was ready to practice.

“Sure, moĭ prints,” she responded lovingly.

“You’re surely turning to be a Russian gentleman, my lord!”

“I want to make you feel at home; after all, we’re in Russia, and I might as well practice my Russian.”

One look at the tub, and Robert’s hair follicles took notice, standing at full attention, ready for the beauty-bath. The bath water had a lovely light orange color with a gorgeous fragrance, which was familiar, but Robert couldn’t put his finger on it. There were white, yellow and red rose petals floating in the wine colored water. She had placed numerous candles all around the tub; the hypoxia induced by the sudden rise in carbon monoxide levels in the bathroom would equal smoking a pack of cigarettes, all at once. The reflection of the flames from the water was tantalizing view indeed. He wanted to dive in right away, but hesitated.
