  Description

Halloween night came and dozens of children couldn’t wait to go outside with their scary costumes. Everyone loved trick'r' treating. There were two siblings: a brother and his younger sister who considered Halloween as the best holiday ever. They lived in the street where at the very end stood and old abandoned house. It was very old and deserted. Many people told of strange noises and lights coming from inside, but nobody dared to enter the house. On this special evening, two siblings heard the whistling noise coming from inside the house. They decided to go in and find out who's whistling. It was dark and scary inside. Suddenly, they encountered a strange being who was making the sound. It was a ghost!

  Whistling Ghost

It was the night of Halloween. There was little, old house at the end of the street surrounded by tall grass and thicket. Rusty windows were half broken and the whole wooden structure of the house was squeaking. It was an abandoned house. Everyone was afraid to come close to it. Many people claimed there were strange noises coming out of it in the middle of the night. Sometimes there was spooky faded light shining from inside. Nobody knew whose house it was and nobody didn't want to know.

  Chapter I. Trick'R'Treat

As the day slowly passed by, night came. Many children were eager to put on their scary costumes and masks to go out trick 'r' treating. There were kids dressed as vampires, witches and ghosts with pumpkin bags prepared for candies. Just like everyone else, young brother and sister were dressing up for Halloween. It was their favorite holiday and they were fearless. What will you be? asked brother his young sister. I think I will be an evil witch! she replied while putting on her black dress with spider sleeves. That's scary! I'm going to be a spooky ghost! he smiled and picked a white sheet with two little holes for eyes. That's not so scary. said the sister. I'm not afraid of ghosts. When they all dressed up, put on their make up and picked up their baskets, they went outside. Dozens of children were already out, singing and chanting Halloween songs. They followed the footpath, rang on a few houses and got a couple of sweets. After the last house, they came to the old abandoned one.

  Chapter II. Somebody's Whistling

They approached the house. Do you hear that? asked the sister. Yes, I do. It seems like..somebody's whistling! said the brother while looking for the source of the strange sound. They came closer to the house and the sound could still be heard from inside. Let's go inside! she said and grabbed the door handle. Are you sure? What if there are ghosts or something? brother asked in fear. There are no such things as ghosts! she replied and opened the door. They got inside. It was dark and scary. No lights, no sounds, just the whistling coming from the back of the room. As they were getting closer to the back side of the house, the noise was becoming louder and louder. The little sister hurried up to find out who or what is making the whistling sound and her brother stayed behind.

  Chapter III. Real Ghost

When she came very close to the whistling sound, it suddenly stopped. Hello? Anybody there? she yelled. Nobody replied. She looked left and right, but she could barely see in the dark. She turned around to go back to her brother. Oh, there you are! she said when she noticed the white figure standing in front of her. I'm here! suddenly her brother yelled from a different part of the room. When she realized it wasn't her brother dressed as a ghost standing in front of her, she screamed. It was a real ghost! He was right there, all pale and scary, quietly standing in front of her. They both screamed and hugged each other when the pale ghost followed them.

Chapter IV. Getting to know the story

Wait! strange sound appeared. Who said that? cried little sister while hugging her brother in the corner of the living room. It's me. I'm talking. said the ghost. Don't be afraid, I'm not bad! he said and took a step back from scared siblings. You..you can talk? the little brother got courage to speak. Who are you? he asked. I'm the owner of the house. I'm living here for quite a while now. I can't leave because I'm a ghost. This is my home and I've been alone all the time in here. replied the ghost to children. They stopped fearing the spooky figure when they got to know his story. It was him making strange sounds in the middle of the night, hoping for somebody to come inside and see him. It was him turning the lights on and off just to get somebody's attention. All he wanted was a friend he could talk to. I'm so sorry that you were alone. We can be your friends if you want to! said the sister and tried to hug the ghost but passed right through him. Whoa, what a strange feeling! she was amazed by a real ghost standing right there.

All three of them talked for a while and soon enough became good friends. Brother and sister promised the ghost they would visit him often, even if it's not Halloween. Strange how unknown spooky things scare us the most – concluded the brother, even if we don't know anything about them, they give us chills. Everyone is scared of your house because they don't know what's inside and picture the worst things. he said. And in the end, it's just a friendly being waiting for someone brave enough to step inside. replied the little ghost. And I think that I'm not scary at all. he laughed. Well, wait until we tell our friends and you must promise us you will scare them silly! said the little sister while chewing on some yellow Halloween candy. Sure, that's what ghosts are for! the ghost replied and flew through the air, made a circle around the room and disappeared into the wooden wall.
