To Debora Akeredolu, My mother, my goddess

  Prologue

King Ojopagogo dragged himself out of the bed, it struck him in a flash that he was heavy, but he could not dwell on that, he had an urgent meeting coming up in a minute, he was almost late, he had to rush to take his bath.

The soap froth was already on his face, when his hands brush over his breast. He had had a glance before but didn’t think much of it, this time though he stopped shot wondering if he was imagining things.

He rinsed his eyes, taking a closer look, what meets his search gave him a devastating shock, in his flat chest was now a huge breast and a woman has to be really busty to match what now occupied his chest.

Instinctively he let his hand slipped down, until it felt between his laps, he reacted as if he is in the middle of a tsunami, his long penis was gone, replaced by virginal.

As he opened his mouth, “what is...” to say what is happening to me, he halted when a woman voice spilled out.

What he dreaded most was what he did next. He spun to check the mirror on the wall of the bathroom opposite.

King Ojopagogo met the monster reflecting back at him from the mirror, it was a woman that looks very familiar, but he cannot place who it was yet.

He was bold at first, starring back at the image that has taken over his body, he wanted to ask who are you, thinking about this gripped him with a terrible fear, he couldn’t meet the eyes on the mirror again.

It occurred to him to go and ask his wife, the Queen, he did not take his cloth before he rushed towards the living room, open the connecting door that will take him there, he fell back quickly, what he saw at the living room was even worst.

  CHAPTER ONE

The King left the bathroom naked without knowing it, he came out and saw himself standing there, addressing the gathering, He was shocked, wondering who the duplicate was that has his look, his voice and his clothes, that was when he realised he was naked, he crashed to the floor and crawled back to his room before he was seeing by the assembly.

Lying on his bed he begins to process this situation in his mind. Who was his duplicate? He thought better of it and realised, that if he is now in the form of a woman, that means that the other person has taking or stolen his identity.

His thought was interrupted when the door to the room was flung opened, and he heard his own voice. “Sweet heart, the meeting had commenced, the chiefs has been waiting”.

It suddenly dawn on him that the duplicate could be his wife, it was like their places were swapped. That was when he remembered the face he saw on the mirror while trying to figure out what was going on, it was her face on his own, and his voice was hers too.

King Ojopagogo’s best guess was if he was conscious of this change, his wife should be aware of the change too, He decided not to rush to conclusion, he wanted to be sure first, so he took the person in his form on.

That was the time the person in the form of the king turned him round to face him, the king in the form of the queen recoiled, evading eyes contact, the whole situation was absurd to him, “you have to hurry”. The person in the form of the king said, with what looks like a mocking grin on his face.

Casually King Ojopagogo in the form of the queen played along, “just give me some minutes. Run along I will join a moment”, hoping to be left alone so that he can organised his thought.

“Hell no! We can’t keep the council waiting” The person that has taken the form of the king disagreed and dragged him to the meeting place.

All the chiefs had a satisfactory look on them, they had been plotting to humiliate King Ojopagogo, now he suspected they had gotten what they wanted, he murmured a response to their greetings.

It was like the whole plan was to spite him, to make him stay there in the form of a Queen, watching helplessly as the corrupt chiefs spoiled the kingdom, while he was stripped of the power of a king to do anything about it.

The gathering shared eighty percent of all the revenue first, allocating everything to themselves, the remaining twenty percent to execute developmental project for the entire Kingdom. He was sure they will corner that as well.

They went blow by blow until they had looted everything the kingdom realised in that year, he expected the person in the form of the king, which he suspected was his wife to protest this wanton looting, but the duplicate was just an eager participant in the corrupt practice.

At a point the King in the form of the Queen could not hold himself again, “this is......” he started protesting but stopped shot, not believing the female voice coming out of his mouth, he was so ashamed that he couldn’t go any further.

King Ojopagogo begin to reflected that if it was his wife that was in his form she should know that he will never be a part of this nonsense, the chiefs too should have known that something is wrong, he was against corruption from the start. That was when it dawn on him, what this was all about.

King Ojopagogo concluded within himself that it was the Queen that has taking his form, the swap identity with his wife was caused by some evil magic which is prevalent in the kingdom, to allow this looting.

Since he emerged as the king three months ago, he had taken a strong stand against corruption, putting him at variant with the council of chiefs who had the kingdom in their grip before then. “This is madness”. He shouted though it has no effect on the decision already made.

  CHAPTER TWO

King Ojopagogo did not resign to fate just like that, He quickly get use to his new look as a Queen, supervising the cooking, and the servant in the running of thing at the palace. Before night fall, he had gotten use to his new appearance, since he cannot see himself, it was the female voice coming from him that disturb him most and he learnt to deal with that.

At night he took the person in the form of the king up, “I thought you were opposed to corruption, now you are embracing it?”

“Keep your mouth shot woman, I did what is best for the kingdom”, the person in the form of the king said, confirming his thought that it was his wife, she had always been greedy, he made sexual advance to silence King Ojopagogo in the form of the Queen.

King Ojopagogo somehow side evaded it, “and you think converting the money for the entire kingdom to your private use is the best thing to do?” he persisted.

“That is the way things are done around here”. The person in the form of the king argued.

“You can change it”. King Ojopagogo in the form of the Queen pleaded.

“No I can’t, the chiefs are just too powerful”.

“But you are the King! you can change whatever you want”. King Ojopagogo hates the gut of this fellow now in his form.

“I can’t and I don’t want to change anything, look around us, everybody is making themselves rich, except you”. The person in the form of the king sound so much like his wife, she had used that phrase when the king embattled
the chiefs over corruption in the past.

“At the expense of the kingdom where you are suppose to be the king?” King Ojopagogo in the form of the Queen persisted.

“I am sorry if that is the way you feel about it”, the person in the form of the king countered. “But you don’t seem to have noticed that you are the only one carrying this super hero mind set around here”.

“What is wrong about making the kingdom better?”

“Nothing is wrong about it! Except that you don’t seem to understand the odds against you”. The person in the form of the king said.

This time king Ojopagogo was certain, more than ever before, that his wife was part of the conspiracy, she had always desire affluence, she is too greedy for a woman, and he was sure she knew about the swapping of their identities, but king Ojopagogo was determine not to let her and the council of chiefs get away with their evil.

  CHAPTER THREE

On the second day, King Ojopagogo was fed up, he does not want to be a woman anymore, and he decided to take some steps. He went to talk to his mother.

He went to her house in the eastern wing of the palace, he knelt down to greet her, which was the tradition but the Queen never greet the king’s mother on her knee.

The king’s mother did not like the Queen, she voiced her displeasure when the Queen was given as a gift to her son the king at his coronation, but she could do nothing against the tradition, that says the king cannot refuse gift from his subject.

Since that time, the relationship between both women was not cordial. When the King’s Mother saw the Queen approaching her house, she knew something was wrong, she had no idea it was her son that is in the form of the Queen, and when she knelt to greet her, the King’s Mother suspected she needed a favour from her, “mother, I am sorry for the way I have been conducting myself lately”. King Ojopagogo in the form of the queen pleaded to calm the tension he felt was rising in his mother down.

“There is nothing to be sorry about”. The king’s mother made it obvious that the Queen’s apology was not accepted. “You should state your mission here?”

“There is a problem mother”. The King wishes he could make her understand he was her soon, not the Queen.

The king’s mother thought nothing of this, the Queen is only playing prank with her, “I am not the appropriate person you take your problem to”. She started to rise, “I am sorry I can’t help you”. She went to open the exit door for the king thinking all the time he was the Queen, and motion her to leave.

In desperation he shouted, “Can’t you see that something is strange about the king?” The king’s mother never appeared to hear her.

As he made his way out, he stop right in her front, “I am the king, your son! Something hap......”, he expected to see her eyes spark up in recognition, but there was none.

The King’s Mother instead shouted, “get out!”

Then the King added, “Remember the day I dipped hand into your pot of soup, and the late king almost killed me for stealing?”

The king’s mother chuckled, she was beginning to lose her patient with the Queen, “you are the one acting strange my Queen”.

Angered by his mother’s disbelief, King Ojopagogo switched tactics, “remember the golden necklace in your neck right now, you said it was a lucky totem from your Mum”.

“Move on”. The king’s mother said with anger. “My son must have tell you all this story dumb!”. She said before she slammed the door on the face of the Queen, the King mother ignorantly reported this to the person in the form of the king the following day thinking it was her son.

  CHAPTER FOUR

The person acting the role of the king left for the meeting of the entire king in the region the morning of the third day, following the swap of identity of the king and the Queen. King Ojopagogo was pacing the conference room at the palace, soliloquising about the sudden turn in his life.

Evil seems to have taking over the driver’s seat in his kingdom. He was in the republic of Ireland, running a real estate business when his mother called to tell him that his father was dead, the father was the former king of the Kakuta Kingdom.

He abandoned everything to come for the burial of the father in the hope to return to his business after the burial. It was not part of the plan that he will be king, though his mother had informed him that he was the direct heir to the throne as the only child of the late king, hereditary monarchy was the practice in the Kakuta kingdom.

In the shot period he was home for the burial, he strangely lost his residence paper of Ireland, his passport and everything he brought home. They simply vanish into thin air.

The mother explained this as the means the god want to force the crown on him, because he had refused to be King when he was first offered the throne, he was planning to go back to his business in Ireland when he could not find his document anymore.

While he was making effort to get his resident papers back in other to travel return home, he learnt that the Irish government had placed a wanted tag on him over tax evasion, his friend back in Ireland informed him.

When he could not go back to his base in Ireland, and he could not access the money in the bank, his only option was to accept the throne, as for that his father left behind a reasonable wealth to keep him going until he can start something.

The mother too, while canvassing him to accept the crown, said that he might not need to work ever again. He never knew the money she was talking will be made from corruption.

His greatest problem now was his stolen identity, which had pushed the problem of corruption, the robbery, poor electricity generation, bad roads, total infrastructural decay, diabolical forces, to the background.

The King thought respites come knocking at his door when a ringing bell reached into the palace from outside, with a voice punctuating the sound of the bell, “Jesus is Lord, accept Jesus!” He suddenly remembered Brigitta, in Ireland that use to come to tell him about Jesus, about his wonder working power. Though he had abandoned Church long ago, but he knew he needed Jesus, he just remember too that before he travelled out of kakuta, there were Churches in the kingdom, only that this time, he has been so overwhelmed by the evil magic to think of any power.

He sent one of the servants to invite the preacher. The preacher wore a white robe, designed with a wing like angels, he had a dreadlock on his head, a white rope was tied around his waist. He kept ringing the bell and shouting his messages even at the palace.

King Ojopagogo felt relieved, assured that there is solution at last to his problem. “Man of God I have a problem pray for me”. He lamented to the preacher.

The preacher don’t seems to hear him at first, as he continued ringing the bell, before he suddenly stopped, then started a song, after which he shouted , “Knee down for prayer”.

King Ojopagogo in the form of the Queen obeyed humbly, after the first shout of in Jesus name and a jingle of the bell, the spirit possessed the preacher, it was another minutes before he came free from the spirit realm, finished the prayer and addressed the Queen.

“Peace be unto you my Queen”, he began.

King Ojopagogo in the form of the Queen looked unto the preacher expectantly, wishing he would have seeing in vision from the spirit realm the problem confronting him, but he never expect the Prophet to address him as the Queen.

“The spirit of God tells me that there is danger”. He resumed but still shaking as in spirit possession, “You need to make a sacrifice to appease your ancestor”.

“Ances..... what?” king Ojopagogo in the form of a Queen, demanded furiously, rising to his feet, disappointed that a man of God could made such pronouncement.

“The traditional god of iron, it is urgent”. The preacher went on to clarify, thinking the reaction of the Queen was because she did not get his point.

King Ojopagogo never belief a preacher could say that, rubber stamping diabolical and evil ways of the people in the land. Now he could understand while the evil is prevalen
t in the land.

The king in form of the Queen left the preacher standing there and went to his room.

  CHAPTER FIVE

‘I know everything that has been happening”. The Question’s guard begins

“What is happening?” King Ojopagogo in the form of the queen does not want to raise his hope unnecessarily, he had not share the problem with anybody since the futile attempt with the king’s mother and the fake prophet. But he was surprise this morning when a note was left besides his coffee urging him to leave the palace and go out. Where he was to go was not stated in the message, but he had a hunch that this note might help solve his problem, he told the person that has taking his form as the king that he was going out.

The servant got the convoy ready, and the personal guard to the Queen asked the driver to wind up the sound proof barrier to screen him and the Queen alone at the back section of the limousine. The guard went ahead after the pretence of the King Ojopagogo in the form of the Queen as if nothing was wrong. “I know that your wife’s appearance was switched with yours, and she is now parading herself as the king”.

“You are insane, how can you even think of something like that”, the king in the form of the Queen pretended.

“My father was the custodian of all the gods of the kingdom before his demise”. The guard said this to justify his claim.

  “Meaning what?”

“Meaning I have the power of vision to see secret things”.

King Ojopagogo in the form of the Queen kept his face expressionless, though he was expectant.

“You are going to remain a woman for seven days, and I need to know what day it is since this change had occurred”. The guard demanded.

King Ojopagogo in the form of the Queen, though suspected the guard’s claim might be right, kept denying, “you are the one saying what is not, besides if you can see secret things you should know”.

“Alright then!” the guard decided to serve the hard fact, “let me break it down to you”. The guard assumed more confidence after that start, “I need to know because traditionally the existing charm could only change people’s identity for a maximum of seven days”, at this revelation King Ojopagogo in the form of the Queen felt relief that his ordeal will soon be over, He had no idea what was coming next, “But chief Asubiaro who is behind your problem, is doing some extensive research, and I am afraid if something is not done by the fifth day you could remain a woman for the next nine months”.
